Gordon Steele enters his second season at UAB in 2026 and his first as the Blazers' Run Game Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach.
Steele joined the Blazers in 2025 as Assistant Offensive Line Coach and was elevated to Run Game Coordinator/Offensive Line CoachΒ prior to the 2026 season. In his first year at UAB, he helped guide an offensive line that paved the way for 4,851 yards of total offense and 39 offensive touchdowns. The Blazers averaged 404.3 yards per game, including 265.6 passing yards per contest, while helping the offense rush for 20 touchdowns.
Prior to arriving at UAB, Steele spent three seasons at South Alabama, where he worked with the offensive line and helped the Jaguars reach consecutive bowl games while contributing to one of the most successful stretches in program history.
Before South Alabama, Steele spent three seasons at Alabama (2018-20) as an offensive analyst, helping the Crimson Tide win two SEC Championships and the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship. He then returned to South Alabama to coachΒ tight ends during the 2017 season. He also served on the staff at Murray State from 2014-16 following three seasons as a graduate assistant at LSU (2011-13), where he was part of an SEC Championship team and two BCS National Championship Game appearances.
Steele is the son of longtime college football coach Kevin Steele, one of the most accomplished defensive coordinators in SEC history.
A native of Tallahassee, Fla., Steele played six years on the offensive line and was a member of Valdosta State's 2007 NCAA Division II National Championship team. He earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Valdosta State in 2010 and a master's degree in liberal arts from LSU in 2013.
Steele and his wife, Melissa, have two sons, Andrew and Jackson and a daughter, Sawyer Kate.
