Blazers Open Season at Foothills Invitational

BIRMINGHAM – UAB Cross Country opens the season on Friday at the 20th Annual Foothills Invitational in Oxford, AL. The women's 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m.
Head Coach Travis Pope enters his fourth season leading the Blazers' Cross Country team. Each season, the team has seen growth in the American Conference meet at the end of the season, jumping from 13th to sixth in his three seasons. UAB returns 10 athletes from the team a year ago, including Katie Keur and Lidia Longo. In total, the Blazers have 13 athletes on the roster with eight coming from the state of Alabama.
THIS TIME LAST YEAR
The Green and Gold placed third in the meet behind Auburn and host Jacksonville State. Keur and Longo placed sixth and ninth respectively to lead UAB to the podium finish.
THE FIELD
Among the teams participating alongside the Green and Gold are Auburn, Jacksonville State, Samford, Troy, West Florida, and West Georgia.
