Vaughn, Smock Earn American Conference Honorable Mention Honors

BIRMINGHAM – UAB volleyball's Kennedy Vaughn and Addyson Smock earned American Conference Honorable Mention honors after helping lead the Blazers to a 3-0 weekend at the Golden Grizzly Invitational.
Vaughn led the Blazers and ranked second in the American last week with 44 kills while hitting .274 across three matches. The Madison, Ala., native paced UAB in kills in all three contests, including a season-high 17 in the Blazers' 3-1 win over Eastern Michigan. She also totaled 20 digs, two blocks and two assists on the weekend. Through the first nine matches of the season, Vaughn ranks third in the American with 119 kills, averaging 3.40 kills per set.
Smock earned her second consecutive Honorable Mention honor after leading the Blazers with 16.0 total blocks during the weekend. She helped UAB record 18.0 team blocks in Friday's 3-1 win over Oakland, marking the program's highest single-match block total since 2023. Smock also contributed 10 kills while hitting .474, along with three service aces and 11 digs. Smock currently ranks second in the American with 40.0 blocks on the season and leads the league with 10 block solos.

Vaughn, Smock and the Blazers return to action Thursday when they begin the Alabama Showdown against Auburn. First serve from Neville Arena is set for 6 p.m.
