The Green and Gold struck first with back-to-back home runs from John Paul Head and Landon Beaver in the opening inning. Head's blast marked his 19th home run of the season, while Beaver added his seventh.
UTSA responded immediately in the bottom half. Four first-inning walks issued by UAB, combined with a Roadrunners grand slam, gave the home team a 5-2 lead after one inning. UTSA added a two-run home run from Diego Diaz in the third inning, extending the lead to 7-2 through two innings.
UAB battled back in the fourth. Landon Beaver drove in Kevin Hall Jr. with a base hit to left field before the Blazers erupted for a six-run inning. Consecutive singles from Brady Waugh, Andrew Hunt, and Wesley Helms brought in another run, and Max Price tied the game at 7-7 with a three-run home run to left field. Hall Jr. followed with an RBI double and later scored on a wild pitch, giving UAB a 9-7 lead.
UTSA responded immediately, scoring five runs in the bottom of the fourth to regain a 12-9 advantage. From there, the Roadrunners added seven unanswered runs over the next two innings to put the game away via run rule (19-9).
