BIRMINGHAM – UAB Baseball (29-23) dropped its final midweek contest of the season to the Troy Trojans (27-26) by a score of 14-5. The Trojans scored the final nine runs of the game to seal the victory.

Troy got off to a fast start in the top of the first when it plated two runs with two outs. Steven Meier stepped in with two on and scored both on a double to get Troy an early 2-0 lead.

The Blazers answered in the bottom half of the inning. After Kevin Hall Jr. led off the inning with a walk, John Paul Head launched his 18th home run of the season as the ball sailed 440 feet for a 2-run home run to tie the game at two.

Three more would score for the Trojans in the top of the second. Blake Cavill drew a bases loaded walk and Jimmy Janicki singled home a pair to up Troy's lead to 5-2.

It was UAB's turn to score three in the bottom of the fourth inning. Alex Dupuy ripped his eighth home run of the year to open the inning. Baylor Roberts plated another on an RBI fielder's choice, scoring Brady Waugh. The Blazers put runners in motion with two outs in the frame. Roberts stole second and Andrew Hunt dashed home on a misplay by the Trojans, tying the game at five apiece.

Troy would go on to score the final nine runs of the game, beginning with a pair in the top half of the fifth. It was Jabe Boroff's turn to score a run on a bases loaded walk to give the TU the lead back. Dillon Keuhl extended the lead to 7-5 on a sac fly, scoring Jimmy Janicki.

The Trojans would score three more in the sixth and a single tally in the seventh to bust the game open. Steven Meier hit a 3-run homer in the sixth to bring in his third, fourth, and fifth runs of the day, all with two outs, to push Troy's lead to five. The lone run in the seventh came on a Jabe Boroff solo shot to extend the lead to six.

Steven Meier's monster day would continue as he drove in his sixth and seventh runs of the day on a 2-run home run. Meier would go back-to-back with Sean Darnell to give Troy its largest lead of the day.

Matt Dill, Cooper Ellingsworth, and Brady Richardson combined to shut out the Blazer offense over the final 5.2 innings of the game as Troy wins its fifth straight over the Green and Gold, 14-5.

NOTES
- UAB has allowed 10+ runs in seven of its last eight games, going 1-7 since the calendar flipped to May.
- The Blazers blasted two more home runs on Tuesday, upping their home run total to 72 on the season. UAB is now 10 home runs away from breaking the school record for most home runs in a season.
- John Paul Head hit his 18th home run of the season which ties him for the third most home runs in a single season in school history.
- Head also picked up his 18th multi-hit game of the season with two hits on the day.
- Brady Waugh recorded his team-high 19th multi-hit game as he picked up two hits.
- Alex Dupuy, who pitched a scoreless ninth inning, registered two hits of his own, tallying his 17th multi-hit game.
- Max Price also had two hits on the afternoon, picking up his fifth multi-hit game.

UAB will wrap up the regular season this weekend in San Antonio as the Blazers travel to UTSA for a 3-game series with the Roadrunners beginning on Thursday. All three games will be streamed live on ESPN+.
