Blazers Hit the Road for the Stampede Beach Opener

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB hits the road this weekend to Clearwater, Florida, to compete in the Stampede Beach Opener, hosted by South Florida. The Blazers will face two conference opponents in South Florida (12-4) and UTEP (5-11). Other competition includes Stephen F. Austin (4-8) and Sacramento State (9-8). South Florida enters the weekend on an eight-match winning streak.
THREE WINS AT MARCH TO MAY: The March to May event marked UAB's first home competition of the 2026 season. The Blazers opened play on Friday with a 5-0 victory over Austin Peay before falling to No. 20 South Carolina in the second match. UAB finished the weekend with a 3-1 record, earning wins over Austin Peay, South Carolina and North Alabama. The Blazers now have 60 home wins in program history.
BLAZERS KNOCKING ON TOP 20 DOOR: UAB received nine votes in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll, marking the second time this season the Blazers have been on the verge of cracking the Top 20. Six UAB opponents are currently ranked, including two that the Blazers have defeated. UAB has never been ranked in program history.
KNOTT MOVING UP THE RECORD BOOK: Freshman Ava Grace Knott continues her climb up the UAB beach volleyball record book. She notched her 14th, 15th and 16th victories of the season, moving into a tie for seventh place in single-season wins by a freshman.
