Recapping the Weekend at the American Conference Indoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM – UAB Track & Field capped off the weekend with multiple personal bests and several appearances in the top 10 in school history over the weekend at the American Conference Indoor Championships hosted at the Birmingham Crossplex.
The weekend was highlighted by Lia Castillo qualifying for the finals in the 800m. Not only did Castillo record her personal best in the prelims, she also recorded the 4th-fastest Indoor 800m in school history. Castillo's prelim time was 2:11.09 and her time in the finals was 2:12.58. Castillo scored two points for UAB for the meet.
Katie Keur was also a highlight for the Blazers on Friday. Keur's PR of 16:52.11 etches her name in the record books as the time ranked the 7th-fastest 5k time in school history. Additionally, Keur also set her personal best in the 3000m with a time of 9:48.73.
Savannah Meyer recorded her personal best time in the 3000m along with Keur. The freshman finished in 10:16.93.
UAB Distance Medley Relay team consisting of Lia Castillo, Leticia Quingostas, Kelly Hughes, and Lidia Longo earned one point for the Blazers in the meet. The team also recorded the 6th-fastest DMR time in school history.
Two more Blazers entered the top 10 in the 400m. Leticia Quingostas put herself in a tie for 4th-fastest in school history with a time of 55.71. Jasmine Dereje is now 7th-fastest with a time of 56.14.
Corinne Ball secured the 10th-best Long Jump in school history this weekend. Ball jumped to a mark of 5.72m.
The meet concludes the Indoor portion of the schedule for the Blazers. UAB opens the Outdoor portion of the schedule on March 20-21 when the Blazers head to Atlanta for Georgia Tech's Yellow Jacket Invite. Meet information and schedules will be posted at a later date.
