BIRMINGHAM – UAB (6-5) powered its way to 11 runs on Saturday as the Blazers took down Jacksonville (9-2) by a score of 11-6. The Blazers blasted four home runs in the game for the third time this season.

One of those home runs opened the scoring for UAB on Saturday afternoon. With two on, Andrew Hunt launched his first home run of the season over the left field fence to give UAB an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first.

JU would answer back with three of its own in the top of the second as the Dolphins capitalized on some Blazer miscues. After a walk and two infield singles with a misplayed pop up in between, Cade Walter would clear the bases on a 3-run triple to tie the game at three.

UAB would regain the lead in the bottom of the second. Kevin Hall Jr. would draw a two-out walk and Alex Dupuy scored him from first on an RBI double to left center and UAB would lead, 4-3.

Both sides would be held scoreless until the bottom half of the fifth when UAB would extend its lead. John Paul Head blasted his third home run of the season out to left field for a 3-run home run. Three batters later, Brady Waugh would drive in Landon Beaver on an RBI groundout to put the Blazers up five after five.

Jacksonville would get a run back in the top of the sixth on a solo home run by Logan Baratta. The Dolphins would add another in their half of the seventh. Cade Walter's fourth RBI of the day brought in Sam Grunberg to cut the UAB lead to 8-5.

UAB would get that run back on Brady Waugh's second home run of the season which was a solo home run to put the Blazers back up by four.

The Blazers would add two more in the bottom of the eighth. John Paul Head roped his second home run of the day to put UAB up 11-5.

JU would not go away in their final at bat. Sammy Mummau hit a solo home run in the top of the ninth to cut into the UAB lead. The Dolphins would string a couple hits together in the inning but it would not be enough as the Blazers took home an 11-6 win.

NOTES
- John Paul Head recorded his first career multi-home run game.

- Head also set his new career-high with four RBI.

- Kevin Hall Jr. extended his hit streak to six and he also tallied his sixth multi-hit game.

- Alex Dupuy also extended his six-game hit streak and recorded his third multi-hit game.

- Andrew Hunt remained in second on the team as he got his fourth multi-hit game of the season.

- Four Blazers had multiple hits and multiple runs scored.

UAB and Jacksonville square off in the rubber game of the series on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Young Memorial Field. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
