UAB Ties Program Record with Five Straight Road Conference Wins

DENTON, TEXAS. - The UAB Men's Basketball team (14-8, 5-4 American) beat North Texas (12-10, 4-5 American) for their 6th straight road win 72-68 on Saturday night. UAB was led by Chance Westry who scored 18 points and a double-double by Denton, Texas native KyeRon Lindsay-Martin (15 points and 10 rebounds).
Je'Shawn Stevenson led North Texas with 21 points and two assists followed by David Terrell Jr. who scored 17 points and five assists. Each team had eight different player's score.

Game Notes
- KyeRon Lindsay-Martin made his first start since Nov. 7 against NC State.
- Dayjaun Anderson made consecutive starts for the first time in his Division I playing career. All of Dayjaun Anderson's 13 points came in the second half.
- UAB tied a program record winning five consecutive road conference games for the first time since the 1981-82 season when the Blazers did it in the Sun Belt Conference.
- Lindsay-Martin captured his 5th double-double of the year with 15 points and 10 rebounds. This is his 6th time reaching 15+ this season.
- UAB won the rebounding battle 35-31 and second chance points 10-6.
- North Texas doubled up UAB in turnovers forcing 12 compared to the Mean Green's six.
- Evan Chatman went a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
- UAB shot 51% from the field (28-for-55), 29% from three (5-for-17), and 61% from the free-throw line (11-for-18).
- The Denton, Texas native Lindsay-Martin scored the first points of the game [2-0].
- North Texas started the game on a 7-2 run. UAB missed five of its first seven shots from the field to start the game [1H 15:54].
- North Texas went on a quick 5-0 run before a 7-0 UAB run capped off by an Ahmad Robinson three-point shot [16-14].
- Chance Westry and Lindsay-Martin both started 3-of-4 from the field, creating a 28-17 UAB lead with six minutes to play in the half. This included a six minute 19-3 UAB run.
- Noth Texas finished with a 6-0 run to close out the first half [34-37]. Je'Shawn Stevenson led all scorers with 17 first half points.
- Lindsay-Martin showed up early in the second half scoring the first four points for UAB [38-43]. UAB trailed by as many as six points in the second half.
- Dayjaun Anderson tied the game on a fast break three [43-43].
- A 7-0 run at the seven-minute mark forced North Texas into a timeout with 5:55 left in the game [61-58].
- Dayjaun Anderson hit a clutch pull-up jumper in the lane to put UAB up three again with 3:36 to play [65-62]. The Blazers went up five with 25 seconds in the game on a Westry tough layup [71-66].
- Anderson was fouled after North Texas made two free throws. He missed both free throws giving North Texas a chance to tie it, but the UAB defense held strong and Jacob Meyer hit one of two from the line to give UAB the all coveted two possession lead [72-68].
- Final score: UAB 72, North Texas 68
- UAB is back at Bartow Arena as the Blazers host Memphis on Thursday, Feb. 5. Tipoff against the Tigers is set for 8 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
