UAB Finishes 11th at Bryan Bros Collegiate

BIRMINGHAM – In a tournament that was moved up a day due to weather, the UAB men's golf team placed 11th at the Bryan Bros Collegiate hosted by South Carolina at Solina Golf Course.
Senior transfer Erik Olin led UAB on the par 71 course as he tied for 20th overall to mark his first top 20 finish as a Blazer. Olin shot 71-68-71 = 210 (-3) and his tournament was highlighted by a second-round 68 in which he carded four birdies.
Morgan Slaton was UAB's second finisher at +3 which placed him 47th overall. Slaton was even par in round one and finished the tournament 71-73-72 = 216.
Alejandro Fierro was one shot behind Slaton at +4 and tied for 48th overall. Fierro shot a two-under 69 in the final round to move up eight spots.
Clipper Salmon (+16) and Alvaro Huidobro (+18) placed 76th and 80th, respectively, to round out the lineup.
LSU (-35) won the team title, while Bryan Kim of Duke won the individual title at -16.
The Blazers return to action next weekend, Oct. 5-7, at the Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hils.
