Women’s Soccer Battles to 1-1 Draw at No. 9 Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – UAB women's soccer (3-2-5, 0-0-2) earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw on the road against No. 9 Memphis (7-0-2, 1-0-1) Thursday night at the Billy J. Murphy Track & Soccer Complex.
After a scoreless first half, the Blazers struck first in the 50th minute when Ava Mills netted her second goal of the season off an assist from Lailah Stewart. The Tigers responded in the 72nd minute, as Alex Mackay converted on a feed from Ashley Henderson to even the match.
Memphis controlled much of the possession (64% to UAB's 36%) and outshot the Blazers 16-3, but the UAB defense, anchored by goalkeeper Leah Parsons with two saves, held strong to secure the result.
Up next, the Blazers return home to host UTSA on Thursday, September 25. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.
