Battle For The Bones BBQ Competition Registration Now Open

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Department of Athletics has officially opened registration for the Battle For The Bones competition contest on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, outside of Protective Stadium when UAB football hosts Memphis.
The Battle for the Bones BBQ Competition will be held in celebration of the UAB-Memphis football rivalry game. The competition is a one-meat ribs contest sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue society and is open to professionals and amateurs. KCBS Backyard contest rules apply.
The deadline to enter the Battle for the Bones contest is 5 p.m. CST on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, and limited spots are available. Once sold out, a waiting list will be available. The kick time for the UAB-Memphis football game will be announced Monday, Oct. 6. Check-in, cooks meeting and turn in times are subject to change.
PRIZES
1st Place (Ribs) - $2,000
2nd Place (Ribs) - $750
3rd Place (Ribs) - $250
1st Place (Sauce) – Trophy
ENTRY FEE - $200
