Men’s Basketball Announces 2025-26 Non-Conference Schedule
9/11/2025 9:37:00 AM | Men's Basketball
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Coming off its fifth-straight 20-win season, the UAB Men's Basketball team released its non-conference schedule Thursday morning.
"Scheduling in college basketball has always come with its challenges, but the fact that we were able to secure opportunities against four reigning conference champions and six teams that played in the postseason last year, including four in the NCAA tournament, has me excited about the challenges our non-conference schedule will present to our new team," said head coach Andy Kennedy.
The Blazers open the season with a home game against Mississippi Valley State on Nov. 3. UAB will then travel to NC State Nov. 7 where newly appointed head coach Will Wade and company awaits. NC State was an NCAA tournament team two years ago where they made a run to the Final Four. UAB holds a 1-0 record against the Wolfpack, winning their only matchup in 2010.
A four-game home stand at Bartow Arena begins on Nov. 11 against Alabama State, followed by games against High Point (Nov. 14), Rhodes (Nov. 17), and concludes on Nov. 21 against South Alabama. Alabama State made the NCAA tournament last season after winning the SWAC Championship. The Blazers will look to redeem a closely contested loss at High Point last season.
Jacksonville, Florida will host the fifth annual Jacksonville Classic basketball tournament, which UAB will attend leading into Thanksgiving on Nov. 24-25. UAB then travels to former Conference USA foe, Middle Tennessee, who will host the Blazers to start the month of December in Murfreesboro. UAB will finish out its away non-conference slate with a road game at 2025 NCAA Tournament participant Drake on Dec. 5. Drake won the Missouri Valley Conference last year, which provided them an 11-seed in the NCAA Tournament.
The last three non-conference home games are against Troy (Dec. 14), Cleveland State (Dec.17), and UNC Asheville (Dec. 21). The Blazers will host Troy for the first time since 2020 where UAB dominated the Trojans 77-55. The Trojans won the Sun Belt last season grabbing a 14-seed in the NCAA tournament.
