UAB Swept to Close Crimson Tide Invitational

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Blazers Volleyball dropped its final match in Tuscaloosa to Alabama in straight sets, Saturday afternoon. Two dominant sets from the Crimson Tide locked up the victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED.
Alabama sided out all but once in the opening set, quickly taking back serve from the Blazers to keep momentum on their side. Alabama went on a 6-1 run in the middle of the set to lead 21-11, before clinching the set on a four-point streak.
The Crimson Tide jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the second set. 10 attack errors in the set allowed Alabama to go up 22-9, ultimately with the Crimson Tide winning the set 25-13.
UAB competed in the third set, hitting .316. However, compared to Alabama's .625 hitting percentage in the set, UAB wasn't able to pull out a set victory. UAB kept it close with Alabama, behind 21-20 before Alabama won the final four points of the match.

The Blazers return to Bartow for their home opener at the Blazer Invitational. UAB will welcome three squads to Bartow Arena: USC Upstate, Tennessee Tech, and North Alabama.
UAB will start the weekend with USC Upstate at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 5, followed by a 7 p.m. Match against Tennessee Tech. The Blazers and North Alabama will close out the tournament on Saturday, September 6, at 3 p.m. Tickets for the tournament and all home matches can be found here.
