Blazers Sign Xavier Transfer Lika Kvirkvelia

BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's basketball head coach Randy Norton announced the signing of forward Lika Kvirkvelia on Monday.
"We're excited to welcome Lika to the Blazer family," Norton said. "At 6-foot-4, she brings great size, skill and a strong presence in the paint. She was looking for a fresh start, and we believe UAB is the perfect fit for her to grow, develop, and thrive. With three years of eligibility remaining, Lika has a huge upside and we're confident she'll make a major impact in our program, on and off the court."
The 6-4 forward comes to Birmingham after spending two seasons at Xavier. During her freshman season she saw action in 27 games and made 13 starts. Kvirkvelia averaged 1.7 points and 1.9 rebounds per game while logging 10.3 minutes per game. The Kobuleti, Georgia native also added 14 assists, five blocks and four steals for the 2023-24 season. For the 2024-25 season Kvirkvelia redshirted.
For her efforts in the classroom, Kvirkvelia earned a spot on the 2023-24 All-Big East Academic Team after her freshman year.
Before starting her collegiate career, Kvirkvelia helped lead Georgia to the FIBA U18 Division C Championship in 2022. During that time, she averaged 16.8 points and 20.5 rebounds per game. Kvirkvelia was named to the All-Star 5 FIBA U18 Division C Team for her efforts on the court.
Kvirkvelia joins Jordan Rosier, Monae Duffy, Britiya Curtis and Samari Taylor as the fifth portal signee for the 2025-26 class and joins freshmen signees Ashlyn Howard, Mari Miller, Sofia Munoz and Peyton Musial.
