Blazers Host UAB Spring Invitational This Weekend

BIRMINGHAM - UAB Track & Field hosts the UAB Spring Invite on Friday and Saturday at UAB's Track & Field Complex. Friday's action will get kicked off at 1 p.m. while Saturday will start at 9 a.m. Saturday is also Senior Day when the Blazers will honor seven seniors in this year's class.
THE LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, 10 Blazers set personal bests in the opening meet of the Outdoor season in Atlanta at the Yellow Jacket Invitational. Along with the 10 personal bests, the Green and Gold put together 13 top 10 finishes, and won two events (400m Hurdles and Steeplechase).
THE FIELD
UAB, Jacksonville State, Alabama State, and Arkansas State are among the 21 teams participating this weekend.
THIS TIME LAST YEAR
Gabby Washington came out on top of the entire 200 meter field last year at the UAB Spring Invite. Lia Castillo placed third in the 1500 meter race field as a freshman last season. Kat Duren placed first in the 100 meter race last season. Taylor Washington placed fifth and Jasmine Dereje placed seventh. Corinne Ball won the Long Jump. Birthe Franck-Petersen placed sixth in the Shot Put. Mya McDanal placed second in the Javelin Throw.
