Women’s Basketball Faces North Texas in Final Road Game

BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's basketball travels to North Texas on Saturday, March 1. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. CT and will air live on ESPN+.
The Blazers enter Saturday's contest 15-13 overall and 6-10 in conference play, while the Mean Green are 21-7 on the season and 13-3 in league play. The game marks the 21st time the two teams have faced each other. North Texas leads the all-time series 12-8.
The Mean Green are coming off a 67-58 win against Charlotte on Wednesday, while UAB fell 73-48 at Rice on Tuesday.
Jade Weathersby led the Blazers with 13 points and eight rebounds while Eleecia Carter recorded 12 points.
In the first quarter the game was tied 6-6 at the 7:13 mark, but the Owls scored the next six point to lead 12-6. With the help of Genevive Wedemeyer and Tracey Bershers, UAB was able to make it a two-point game at 13-11 to close out the first.
Rice used a 19-3 run for the majority of the second quarter to have a 19-point lead at 35-16 going into halftime. The Owls used another big run in the third to lead 50-31 heading into the final frame. Rice had its biggest lead at 30 in the fourth quarter and ultimately earned a 25-point win.
Maddie Walsh leads the Blazers with 12.3 points per game while Weathersby is following behind with 11.0 points. Sara Bershers is averaging 8.9 points while T. Bershers is recording 6.1 points per game. Molly Moffitt is registering 6.0 points and Carter is averaging 5.5 points per game. Weathersby is leading in the rebound category with 9.2 per game.
Offensively, North Texas is led by Tommisha Lampkin (16.9 ppg), Desiree Wooten (11.2 ppg) and Ereauna Hardaway (10.2 ppg).
