Second Half Burns Blazers at ECU

GREENVILLE, N.C. – UAB men's basketball led by 12 in the second half but could not hold on, falling 82-75 at East Carolina. The Pirates scored 51 points in the second half, led by CJ Walker and RJ Felton, who combined for 52 on the night.
The first half was a physical battle with both teams going back and forth. ECU jumped out to an early 10-4 lead, but the Blazers answered with an 8-2 run to tie it up.
Tyren Moore and Christian Coleman each had eight points in the first half to get the Blazer offense going, Moore knocked down a pair of deep threes and a midrange jumper to help the Blazers build a small lead.
UAB led by as many as seven points in the first half, but ECU cut the lead to just three with a minute to go. Christian Coleman and Alejandro Vasquez were able to force a turnover and Coleman's dunk put UAB ahead 36-31 at the half.
The Blazers came out in the second half on a 7-0 run to take a 12-point lead, capped by a Tyren Moore three. The Pirates, however, answered right back with a 13-2 run to erase the UAB advantage with 13:16 remaining.
RJ Felton put ECU ahead for the first time in the second half with a layup at the 12:10 mark, putting the score at 51-49.
Yaxel Lendeborg scored 18 of his 22 points in the second half as he helped the Blazers keep up with ECU.
The Blazers struggled to get stops as CJ Walker and RJ Felton continued to come through for the Pirates. After Lendeborg gave UAB the lead at 67-66, Felton answered right back with a three.
ECU took a 75-70 lead with two minutes remaining after Jordan Riley was able to get to the rim for a bucket, but UAB was able to tie it up at 75 on an Alejandro Vasquez three with 1:05 remaining.
The Pirates were able to close it out after RJ Felton put them ahead with 45 seconds remaining and an intentional foul on the next possession helped ECU put it away by a score of 82-75.

- Yaxel Lendeborg scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for his 16th double-double of the season. He has tied Carlos Williams for the most double-doubles in UAB history at 35.
- Tyren Moore scored 16 points and shot 4-for-7 from beyond the arc.
- Christian Coleman had 12 points and 10 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season.
- Both Coleman and Lendeborg had double-doubles for the first time since March 10, 2024.
