Men’s Basketball Falls at Home Against Troy

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB Men's Basketball team (7-4) fell to Troy, 86-85, on Sunday afternoon in Bartow Arena. Ahmad Robinson (25 points) and Salim London (19 points) paced the Blazers' offense, as the duo scored 27 of UAB's 46 second half points. Daniel Rivera and Chance Westry also scored in double figures, each scoring 10 points on the day. Four Troy players scored in double digits, led by Victor Valdes' 26 points.

- Salim London posted a career day, tallying career highs in minutes (35:57), points (19), field goals (eight) and three-point field goals (three).
- Ahmad Robinson also recorded a season-high in three categories; minutes played (37:04), points (25) and field goals (nine).
- This was Andy Kennedy's first loss as a head coach against Troy (previously 6-0 against the Trojans).
- The Blazers outrebounded the Trojans, 33-29. UAB is now 7-3 when outrebounding the opponent.
- UAB reached the charity stripe 13 times, which is the lowest all season.
- The back-and-forth contest featured 13 lead changes and 11 ties.
- The Green and Gold scored 16 fastbreak points, alongside 15 points from Troy turnovers.
- Four Blazers scored in double figures: Salim London (19 points), Daniel Rivera (10 points), Ahmad Robinson (25 points) and Chance Westry (10 points).
- UAB shot 38% from three-point line, which is the best percentage all season.
- UAB shot 55% from the field (34-for-61), 38% from three (8-for-21), and 69% from the free-throw line (9-for-13).
- Salim London opened the scoring with back-to-back three-point shots [6-0].
- Troy answered with two threes of their own and another UAB three by Jacob Meyer [9-6].
- UAB started 4-of-6 from behind the arc just five minutes into the game [14:54].
- UAB opened up a seven-point lead (18-11) with 13:58 left in the half.
- Seven lead changes happened over the next 10 minutes of play, including seven different UAB scorers.
- Salim London ended the half at the buzzer as he hit a fade-away jumper to give UAB a four-point lead [39-35].
- Troy opened up the second half on an 8-2 run giving the Trojans their first lead since 5:54 left in the first half.
- That run continued up to an eight-point lead for Troy (45-53) with 15:45 left in the game.
- Evan Chatman hit a big three to put UAB within two points [51-53].
- Another Trojan run (11-3) put Troy up by 10 points [54-64]. Victor Valdez had five of those points for the Trojans.
- A 9-2 UAB run, concluded with a Salim London three-point shot to close the gap to three points [63-66].
- UAB went on a 7-2 run after that, thanks to five points from Ahmad Robinson [70-68].
- UAB took the lead when Ahmad Robinson went down the court and put up a layup [85-84].
- Troy put up a three with four seconds left that hit the backboard and fell into Thomas Dowd's lap. He took it back up and won the game for Troy as time expired [86-85].
- UAB is back in action on Dec. 17 against Cleveland State at 6:30 p.m. in Bartow Arena.
