Haas and Stant to Compete in AVCA Pairs National Championship

BIRMINGHAM – UAB's dynamic duo of seniors Jasmine Haas and Olivia Stant are set to participate in the AVCA Beach Volleyball Pairs National Championship this weekend, Nov. 7-9, at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Ala.
Haas and Stant earned the 20th overall seed in the 64-team bracket and will open competition against the 45th-seeded pair of Washington's Zoe Pabarcus and Ella Tyus on Friday at 9:15 a.m. The winning team will advance to the round of 32 to face the winning pair from Cal vs. Southern Miss.
The winner's bracket is a single elimination format, but teams that lose are guaranteed more matches despite not having a path back to compete for the national championship. To be crowned National Champion, the winning pair will remain undefeated for all six matches.
Haas and Stant shattered all of UAB's single season records last spring, playing to an overall record of 26-7. Haas currently ranks second in career wins at UAB (67) and Stant is currently fifth (53) entering their senior seasons.
UCLA's Maggie Boyd and Sally Perez won last year's Pairs National Championship. Ella Connor and Erin Inskeep of Cal Poly are the No. 1 overall seed in this year's tournament.
