Crook Named American Offensive Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB Volleyball standout Jorda Crook was dubbed the American Offensive Player of the Week following her 40-kill week with wins at Memphis and Tulane. Middle Blocker Summer Snead joined Crook as an honorable mention after averaging 1.75 blocks per set in the Blazers' two wins.
Crook led the American Conference during the week with 5.00 kills per set and 40 kills. Crook tallied 25 of her kills in a career-high match at Tulane on Sunday. Crook's 27.5 points against the Green Wave were the most in her three-year career, just edging her 27.0 vs Mississippi State last season.
The Ohatchee, Ala. Native started her week with a team-high 15 kills in UAB's 3-1 win at Memphis on Wednesday. Crook added four blocks and an ace to total 18.0 points against the Tigers.
Snead, an honorable mention, led the conference with 14 total blocks and 1.75 blocks per set. The redshirt junior's eight blocks against Memphis were the most by a Blazer this season and a career-high for Snead. The Nashville native totaled six blocks in the Blazers' 3-1 win over the Green Wave. Snead also had eight blocks during the week.
UAB returns home to Bartow Arena this week, hosting Memphis at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, before wrapping the week against the South Florida Bulls at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7.
