WHAT TO WATCH FOR:
- UAB's trip to Tulsa marks the Blazers' first road game against the Golden Hurricane since 2011, still seeking its first win in Tulsa. The Blazers trail the all-time series against Tulsa, 4-1, but won last year's meeting 59-21, the first since both programs joined the American Conference.
- Iverson Hooks made history against South Florida with his 10 receptions, becoming the first player in UAB history to record multiple 10+ reception games in a single season. Hooks is just the third player in UAB history to have multiple 10+ reception games in a career.
- Hooks ranks 12th in the country with 67 receptions this season. His 881 receiving yards are the 18th most in the FBS. Hooks' 67 receptions are the fourth most ever in a UAB season, and his 881 receiving yards are the seventh most in a Blazer season.
- Solomon Beebe leads the American with 600 kickoff return yards, the sixth most in the FBS. Beebe is the seventh player in UAB history to notch 600 kick return yards in a single season. He now ranks ninth in Blazer history with 916 career kickoff return yards.
- Beebe began the season with 100 or more all-purpose yards in six of seven games. After a three-week hiatus from the century mark, Beebe returned with 136 against South Florida. Beebe picked up 91 of his yards in the return game, plus 30 on the ground and 15 through the air.
- Tulsa native Isaiah Jacobs looks to continue his touchdown streak after finding the end zone in back-to-back games for the first time in his career. Jacobs now has eight career touchdowns, including a career-high four this season.
- Both teams rank in the top 35 in first down offense (Tulsa no. 33, UAB no. 34), moving the sticks often. However, each program ranks in the bottom 40 in first down defense (Tulsa no. 95, UAB no. 111), allowing opponents to reset the downs more frequently than they do. The Blazers had 27 first downs last week versus South Florida, the most in a game this season. Tulsa's 26 first downs against Army were the second most by the Golden Hurricane this season.
- Despite owning a 2-3 record at H.A. Chapman Stadium, the Golden Hurricane has a positive point differential at home, +8 (140-132). The Golden Hurricane picked up a 28-point win to open the season over Abilene Christian and a 17-point victory in their last home matchup against Oregon State.
- Tulsa's 173.5 rushing yards per game are the 53rd most in the FBS. Nine of UAB's 11 FBS opponents rank in the top half of the FBS in rushing offense.
- Tulsa ranks 95th in scoring defense, the third-worst of UAB opponents. Rice and South Florida rank below the Golden Hurricane, teams with which UAB scored an average of 25.0 points.
