1/8/2025 11:35:00β―AM | General, Academics
BIRMINGHAM β UAB student-athletes put together one of the strongest semesters in school history as the Blazers posted a collective Fall GPA of 3.27, which is the second highest Fall term GPA in program history.
Β
"We are extremely proud of our student-athletes and their academic efforts this fall," said A'dja Jones, Associate Athletic Director for Academics and Student-Athlete Support Services. "Being a student-athlete, especially during this time, is tough. Expectations are high. There never seems to be enough time to complete everything. Yet, our Blazer student-athletes continue to prove that discipline, dedication, and asking for help, when needed, pays off in the classroom just as it does on their respective field of play.
Β
"This could not have been accomplished without the efforts of our fantastic academic support staff pouring into all UAB student-athletes. We are looking forward to another successful semester this Spring and will strive to keep improving in the classroom and community."
Β
Overall, 14 of UAB's 17 teams posted a team GPA of 3.2 of better, led by the beach volleyball team who had the highest GPA at 3.83. Men's tennis had the highest GPA amongst male sports at 3.79.
Β
An impressive 93 student-athletes posted a perfect 4.0 GPA, while exactly 200 Blazers had a 3.5 GPA or better, and 300 athletes recording a 3.0 or better. UAB had 19 graduates in the Fall semester and a total of 11 majors represented.
Β
Additionally, UAB logged 2,543 community service hours in the Fall semester that equated to an economic impact of $85,165.
Β
The Blazers begin the Spring semester this coming Monday, January 13.
