Lendeborg Named American Conference Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's basketball forward Yaxel Lendeborg was named the American Conference Player of the Week on Monday, the league announced. Lendeborg led the Blazers to a pair of wins over Tulane and Florida Atlantic while averaging 23.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 2.0 blocks per game while shooting .808 (21-for-26) from the field.
In the Blazers' win over Tulane, Yaxel Lendeborg nearly had the Blazers' first triple-double since 2009, finishing just two assists shy of the mark. The senior from Pennsauken, N.J. posted a line of 25 points, 13 rebounds and a career high eight assists in the 81-69 win over the Green Wave. He also blocked two shots and grabbed two steals, impacting the game in all facets.
Lendeborg concluded the week by leading the Blazers to their first win at Florida Atlantic since the 2019-20 season. He led the team with 22 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists while also blocking two shots. He scored 13 of his 22 points in the second half to help close out the UAB win.
This season, Lendeborg and Duke's Cooper Flagg are the only two players in the country that lead their team in scoring, rebounding, assists, blocks and steals. He is averaging 16.7 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.6 blocks per game through 17 games.
He earned American Conference Player of the Week honors twice during the 2023-24 season.
