Jessen Named AAC Freshman of the Week, Two Named to Honor Roll

BIRMINGHAM – The American Conference recognized UAB men's soccer defender Ole Jessen as the league's Freshman of the Week on Monday while Jonathan Munteanu and Mathias Love Groth were named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
Jessen scored his first collegiate goal in the Blazers win over Florida Atlantic on Saturday night. The defender from Aarhus, Denmark showed impressive skill to get past the FAU defense and find the back of the net.
Additionally, UAB goalkeeper Jonathan Munteanu and midfielder Mathias Love Groth were named to the AAC Honor Roll after the Blazers' win. Munteanu made five saves to help maintain the UAB lead. He has made at least five saves in each of the last three matches. Love Groth's first collegiate goal came at a perfect time for the Blazers, as it gave UAB the lead with just over five minutes remaining, proving to be the game-winner.
