Three From Men’s Soccer Earn Weekly Recognition

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's soccer goalkeeper Jonathan Munteanu earned American Conference Goalkeeper of the Week honors while forward Isaac Calderon and defender Chris McKenna were each named to the weekly honor roll.
Munteanu led the Blazers to a 1-0 victory over Georgia State on Tuesday, the Blazers' first win and first shutout since the 2022 season. He has six saves over the first three matches and has yet to allow a goal in open play.
Isaac Calderon scored the game winning goal for UAB in the win over Georgia State. Jake Kellerhals found him at the top of the box and he turned and fired it into the top right corner of the goal with his left foot.
Chris McKenna has been a key addition for the UAB back line. The graduate student has helped the UAB back line limit chances for the opposition while preventing any open play goals.
