9/1/2024 7:10:00 PM | Men's Soccer
BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's soccer (1-1-1) led throughout the afternoon against Northern Kentucky (0-2-2), but a late penalty awarded to the Norse ended the match at 1-1.
The Blazers got on the board in the first half on a penalty kick of their own in the 32nd minute. Coleman Jennings was taken down in the box and Tony Kim calmly put the Blazers ahead on the PK.
UAB outshot the Norse 12-11 in the match, including eight shots on goal compared to NKU's three.
In the second half, the Norse began to get more chances on the UAB goal, but the Blazer defense stood tall. In the 85th minute, following a UAB clearance, the referee went to the monitor to check for a potential foul in the box and it was awarded after the VAR check.
Wade Stinson found the net on his try to put the match on level terms where it would remain.
