Norton Promotes Mary Dunn to Assistant Coach and Director of Operations

BIRMINGHAM – UAB head coach Randy Norton announced the promotion of Mary Dunn as the new Assistant Coach and Director of Women's Basketball Operations. Dunn spent in the 2023-24 season as a Graduate Assistant.
"We are very excited to promote Mary from her Graduate Assistant position last year, to her new role of Assistant Coach and Director of Women's Basketball Operations," Norton said. "She was an outstanding player at Youngstown State and the University of Pittsburgh. She also has international experience playing professionally in Ireland. She will be a great asset while working with our forwards."
Before coming to Birmingham, Dunn played a season with the Brunel Singleton SuperValue located in Cork, Ireland. The team plays in the Superleague which is the highest-level professional women's league in Ireland. In 18 games, she averaged 10 points and 14 rebounds per game.
Prior to joining the professional league in Ireland, Dunn played five seasons at Youngstown State and her graduate season at Pittsburgh.
During her time at Youngstown State, she appeared in 114 games while making 65 starts. She had career totals of 1,299 points, 540 rebounds, 91 blocks, and 75 assists while shooting 53.2 percent from floor. Dunn became the 22nd member of the Youngstown State women's basketball 1,000-point club in the 2019-20 season.
Academically, Dunn was a three-time member of the Horizon League All-Academic Team and was selected to the Google Cloud Third Team Academic All-America Team following the 2018-19 season. She earned her bachelor's degree in May 2020 as a double major in communications and sociology with a perfect 4.0 grade point average. Dunn also graduated with her master's in professional communication from Youngstown in 2021.
Dunn spent her graduate season at Pittsburgh, where she played in 24 games and made four starts.
