BIRMINGHAM – The UAB football team concludes its home schedule on Nov. 23 as the Blazers host AAC opponent Rice for Senior Day.
The Blazers have 24 seniors on this year's roster and are led by some of the top returners on the team. On offense, Jacob Zeno, Brady Wilson, Quez Yates, Trey Bedosky, T.J. Jones, Terrell McDonald, Lee Witherspoon and Bryce Damous look to build off of last year's record-setting offense which averaged a school record 450.0 yards per game.
Defensively, interior lineman Kevin Penn is the only sixth-year senior on the team, while returning veterans like Colby Dempsey, Michael Moore, Desmond Little and Kendall Johnson look to set the pace for UAB this season.
Despite dropping the last two contests against Rice, UAB owns a 6-5 series advantage over the Owls, and this will be the first meeting as members of the American Athletic Conference. Before the previous two, UAB won four straight against Rice, including a 21-16 victory in Houston during the 2020 season to clinch a berth in the CUSA title game which the Blazers went on to win at Marshall.
Rice concludes a home schedule that also features Alcorn State (Aug. 29), Navy (Sept. 28), Tulane (Oct. 5), Tulsa (Nov. 2) and UConn (Nov. 9).
Since returning to action in 2017, UAB is 33-6 in front of its home fans in Birmingham and 12-5 at Protective Stadium.
