UAB Lands 11 on Athlon Sports and Phil Steele AAC Preseason Teams

BIRMINGHAM – Headlined by senior center Brady Wilson and sophomore wide receiver Amare Thomas, the UAB football team had 11 players named to the Preseason All-AAC Teams by two different outlets in Athlon Sports and Phil Steele.
Athlon Sports tabbed Wilson as a First Team All-AAC selection. Wilson started every game at center last season and anchored an offense line that helped UAB set a school record for yards per game (450.0).
A Rimington Trophy Watch List member, Wilson had an 81.6 pass blocking grade according to PFF College and allowed only two sacks across 485 pass blocking snaps in 2023.
Thomas erupted onto the scene as a rookie in 2023 and set the UAB freshman receptions record with 53 catches, which were the seventh most single season catches by a Blazer in school history. Overall, he had 53 catches for 437 yards and three touchdowns with a career high nine catches at No. 1 Georgia and a career-best 99 yards at Tulane.
