No. 7 Seed UAB Opens AAC Tournament with No. 10 Rice

FORT WORTH, Texas – No. 7 seed UAB women's basketball opens postseason play on Sunday when it faces No. 10 seed Rice in the Second Round of the 2024 AAC Tournament inside Dickies Arena in Forth Worth, Texas.

Sophomore guard Denim DeShields and Mia Moore each earned All-Conference Third Team, while Moore also earned a spot on the All-Newcomer Team on Friday.

Moore is having a breakout season with a team-high 15.6 points and 9.0 rebounds, in addition to 2.8 assists and 1.5 steals in 33.3 minutes per game. Moore has led the team in rebounds in 19 games, scored in double figures 25 times and had 13 double-doubles.
Senior Maddie Walsh is averaging 10.3 points per game, .445 percent in field goal range and .439 percent from the long range. Walsh has had 17 double figure scoring games, with two of the games being 20-plus scoring games.
The winner of Sunday's matchup will face No. 2 seed North Texas.
