Beach Volleyball Finishes 3-1 at Sugar Beach Bash

YOUNGSVILLE, La. – The UAB beach volleyball team finished the Sugar Beach Bash with a 3-1 record this weekend which included a ranked win over No. 20 Tampa in Youngsville, Louisiana.

The Blazers (10-6) opened the tournament with a 3-2 victory over No. 20 Tampa to mark their first ranked win of the season. UAB concluded day one action with a narrow 3-2 loss to South Carolina.

Day two featured a pair of 4-1 victories over Southern Miss and New Orleans and saw Arden Copping become the new career wins leader at UAB.

Copping's first victory of the day was her 59th career win, which moved her ahead of Emma Andraka who graduated last year with 58 career victories.

Copping and her partner Jasmine Haas had a perfect 4-0 weekend on Court 1 and now have an overall record of 11-4 this season.

The Blazers are off next week and then travel to Jacksonville the following week for the North Florida Invite where the Blazers will play College of Charleston, North Florida, New Orleans and Mercer.
