BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees Compensation Committee unanimously approved two-year contract extensions for UAB Baseball Head Coach Casey Dunn and Women's Basketball Head Coach Randy Norton.
Both of their new contracts have been extended to June 30, 2028.
"Coach Dunn and Coach Norton are tremendous leaders and conduct their programs with the upmost integrity," UAB Director of Athletics Mark Ingram said. "They both know how to maximize the potential of their student-athletes in competition, in the classroom and in the community. UAB Athletics is beyond excited to extend their contracts, and we greatly appreciate the Board of Trustees for their unwavering support throughout this process. We look forward to the continued success of the UAB Baseball and Women's Basketball programs."
Dunn enters his fourth year at UAB and has won 25+ games in two of his three seasons. Overall, Dunn has won over 600 games in his 21+ seasons as a head coach.
"When I came here three years ago, I knew it would take time to build a championship program," Dunn said. "We have made a lot of progress both on and off the field during the past three years and have a team ready to take the next step this season. The goal has and will always be to win a championship and advance to the NCAA tournament. I appreciate Mark Ingram and Dan Carlson's belief in our staff and the shared vision we have for UAB Baseball."
Norton is in his 12th season leading UAB and has coached the Blazers to an overall record of 200-146. He guided UAB to the 2017-18 Conference USA regular season title and was named the CUSA Coach of the Year for his efforts.
"I appreciate the continued support from President Watts, Mark Ingram, the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees and their confidence in me and our program," Norton said. "We have accomplished some great things on the court and in the classroom, and we look forward to setting the bar even higher in the future. Our past and current student-athletes have built a tremendous legacy for our future players. I want to thank my staff who have worked extremely hard in helping us build a first-class program."
