UAB Heads to Wichita for AAC Cross Country Championships

WICHITA, KS - The UAB Cross Country team is slated to race in the AAC Cross Country Championships on Friday, November 1 at L.W. Clapp Memorial Park in Wichita hosted by Wichita State. The meet was scheduled for Saturday, November 2, but was moved up one day due to impending weather.
Along with the Blazers and Shockers, 11 other AAC teams are competing in Friday's 6K race. UAB will be starting in box 2.
Katie Keur looks to continue her impressive season leading the Blazers. The sophomore's best 6K time came at Georgia Tech XC Invitational on October 4 with a time of 21:53 which ranks 31st in the American Conference.
Kyra Hayes is also a strong runner for UAB. The junior ran her best 6K time of 22:56 ranks 54th in the American Conference. Lia Castillo and Lidia Longo anchor down the middle of the pack for the Blazers. The sophomore duo each have a season PR of just over 23 minutes.
Kaitlyn Wende, Anna Behmer, and Sangie Lincoln-Velez look to round out the scoring for the Blazers. The trio have been consistently closing out races for UAB this season and look for another strong finish on Friday.
