2024 Hall of Fame Spotlight: Marla Townsend

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB Department of Athletics will be inducting Marla Townsend (former softball coach) into the Class of 2024 UAB Athletics Hall of Fame.
Towsend finished her 19-year UAB career with a 532-507 record and a .512 win percentage. Marla was the first coach in program history at UAB accruing nine - 30 plus win seasons. Townsend guided the Blazers to five straight NCAA Tournament appearances from 2010-14 including one NCAA Regional Championship in 2013. The Blazers Beat No. 15 Louisville to make it to the Regional Final where they beat UCLA to advance to UAB's first ever Super Regional.
Marla Townsend was inducted into the Alabama Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame in 2008 and was a 3-time Conference USA Coach of the Year.

The UAB Department of Athletics will honor five individuals including Marla Townsend at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony at The Florentine on Friday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. Tickets to the event must be pre-purchased by clicking here. The last day to buy tickets for the induction ceremony is Wednesday, Oct. 30.

The UAB Department of Athletics will recognize five Blazer legends during UAB Football's Homecoming game against Tulsa on Saturday, Nov. 2. Tickets to the homecoming game can be purchased by clicking here with kickoff scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
