Women’s Soccer Travels to South Florida

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's soccer team travels to Tampa, Florida to face South Florida on Thursday. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT.

SERIES HISTORY
The match marks the 12th time the two teams have faced each other. The Blazers lead the series 6-4-1 with the last match taking place in Birmingham last season where the Bulls earned a 1-0 win.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BLAZERS
UAB picked up a 1-0 win against Florida Atlantic on Sunday. Freshman, Mia Leath, put the Blazers in the lead in the 52nd minute with her first goal of the season. Leath's goal was assisted by Sydney Bolinger, which was her first assist of career.
SCOUTING THE BULLS
South Florida is coming off a 1-0 loss against No. 17 Memphis on Sunday. The Bulls are 6-2-3 on the season and 1-1-2 in conference play. USF is led by Anna Sutter who has five goals, followed by Georgia Brown with four. Micahela Hill has three goals this year, while Sadie Sider-Echenberg has two. Gentiana Fetaj, Serita Thurton, Sarah Brunner, Peyton Felton, Sophia Cabral and Elyse Thornton all have one goal apiece.
BREAKOUT CANDIDATES
Abbey Burns has been recognized with an AAC award by earning Honorable Mention (Sept. 26) for her efforts against Samford. Burns has registered five goals so far this season. Bolinger has netted two goals and Abby Graeser has one goal this year.
Maia Sirota recorded her first collegiate goal at UTSA and has tallied two assists so far, with her first to Graeser in the season opener win against ETSU and her second assist to Bolinger at Samford.
Jette Zimmer scored her first goal of the season at Rice last Thursday. It was her sixth goal of her collegiate career.
BRILLIANCE IN GOAL
Last week, Anika Toth earned AAC Goalkeeper of the Week for her performance against the ranked Tigers. So far this season, Toth has recorded five shutouts. Her first coming in UAB's home opener against ETSU (1-0), at home versus Ole Miss (1-0), at Southern Miss (1-0), against No. 15/11 Memphis (0-0) and against Florida Atlantic (1-0). With the 1-0 win at Southern Miss, Toth recorded her 10th career shutout.
Also at Southern Miss, Toth took a free kick and assisted Bolinger in scoring the goal to put the Blazers up. It was the first assist of her career, and she earned AAC Honorable Mention for her efforts.
For her career, she has 12 shutouts, with her five this season being the most she has recorded in a single season.
