UAB Hosts Florida Atlantic on Wednesday

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's basketball team is back at home this Wednesday, Jan. 31 to take on Florida Atlantic after a two-game road swing. Tip is set for 6 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
The Blazers suffered a loss last Sunday to North Texas in the fight for first place in the American Athletic Conference, but still enters the contest 15-5 overall and 6-2 in league play. FAU is 6-13 overall and 1-7 in AAC play.
Denim DeShields and Mia Moore both accumulated 15 points and five rebounds at North Texas. Moore leads the American in rebounds averaging 9.6, which ties her for 40th nationally in that category. DeShields sits atop the AAC assists leaderboard averaging 5.2.
Led by Tracey Bershers who ranks third in the American in 3-point field goal percentage, the Blazers lead the conference at 34.5 percent.
Offensivley, FAU is led by Aniya Hubbard and Mya Perry who average 19.0 and 12.5 points per game, respectively. Additionally, Perry leads the league in 3-point field goal percentage (.444) and 3-point field goals made (2.89).
This is the 18th meeting between UAB and FAU and the second time this season the two teams have met each other. The Blazers traveled to Boca Raton, Florida on Dec. 30, 2023 and claimed a 65-53 win over the Owls.
UAB leads the all-time series 14-4 and are 7-1 at home when facing Florida Atlantic.
