Matt Quinn Named 2022-23 CUSA Football Scholar Athlete of the Year

BIRMINGHAM – Senior placekicker Matt Quinn has been named Conference USA's 2022-23 Football Scholar Athlete of the Year. The award, voted on by the conference's 11 Faculty Athletics Representatives, is presented to the top student-athletes in each conference-sponsored sport based on academic achievement, athletic achievement and service.
Quinn graduated in the Spring with a 3.90 GPA as an accounting and finance major. He has earned the prestigious Conference USA Academic Medal for having a GPA over 3.75 every year while at UAB and has additionally appeared on the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll, UAB Dean's List and the UAB President's List. Quinn was also a member of Beta Alpha Psi, an international honor society for accounting, finance, and information systems.
Quinn was a member of the 2022 Conference USA All-Academic Team and graduated as one of the top accounting and finance students within UAB's Collat School of Business.
On the field, Quinn was 14-of-19 on field goal tries last season, as well as going a perfect 45-for-45 on extra points. In his career, Quinn has tallied 233 total points, going 36-of-47 on field goals and 125-of-127 on extra points, which currently stands as the highest PAT percentage in school history (.984). In a win vs. Alabama A&M on Sept. 1, Quinn tied a school record for most extra points made in a game (8).
He enters his final season at UAB in 2023 ranking sixth in career field goals made (36), fourth in career field goal percentage (.765), third in career PAT made (125), and seventh in career points (233).
