BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Department of Athletics excelled in the classroom as Blazer student-athletes continued to hold a high standard by posting 3.27 GPA for the Spring 2023 semester.
This makes it 19 consecutive semesters the UAB Athletics department maintained a 3.0 GPA or higher. Overall, 14 of UAB's 18 sports had a 3.2 GPA or higher during this past semester.
In total, 295 student-athletes (65%) earned a 3.00 GPA or above, 187 (42%) earned a 3.5 GPA or above and 75 (17%) earned a perfect 4.00 GPA. Eighty-seven student-athletes, representing 19 different majors, earned their degrees in April. Twenty-nine graduated with honors including thirteen that graduated Magna Cum Laude.
"This was another stellar performance by our UAB Blazers in the classroom during the Spring 2023 semester," said Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Support Services Antwan Joseph. "I would like to give a huge congratulations to our Blazer graduates. We appreciate all of the hard work you have put in to achieve this goal and the dedication you have given this great University during that time...Go Blazers!"
