Waugh Named to Conference USA All-Academic Team

BIRMINGHAM β UAB Baseball's right fielder Tyler Waugh has been named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team announced by the league officials on Friday.

The Hoover, Ala. native is a first-time recipient of this academic award and the second Blazer in two years to be represented on the team. Waugh, a sophomore, holds a 3.81 GPA as he pursues a degree in nursing.

After making just eight starts as a Freshman in 2022, Waugh claimed the starting position in right field with 39 starts. With one regular season game left, Waugh sits with a .272 batting average, 43 hits, 16 runs, 15 RBI with five doubles and two stolen bases.

UAB and Waugh are looking to finish the season sitting ninth in the conference with a current overall record of 16-35. The Blazers take on Florida Atlantic today, May 19, at Young Memorial Field starting at 2 P.M. for game two of the final regular season series.
