Dallas, Texas – The UAB Blazers (10-20, 3-8) dropped game two to the DBU Patriots (22-9, 8-3) in a pitcher's duel by a score of 3-2 on Friday, April 7 at Horner Ballpark.
UAB came from behind twice to tie the game up after scoring one run in the fourth inning and one in the seventh off five total hits. DBU laid down a sacrifice bunt to bring in the winning run during the bottom of the ninth to win game two and claim the series.
Blayze Berry started on the mound for UAB and threw five and two third innings before Christian Clack and John Luke Marlin came on in relief. Marlin (0-2) was given the loss after he threw one complete inning and allowed one run – unearned – on two hits and two strikeouts. Berry allowed two runs which were both earned on six hits with four strikeouts during his time on the mound before Clack entered the game in the sixth inning and gave up no runs on one hit.
Tyler Waugh was the only Blazer to pick up a multi-hit game after going 2-for-4 with two singles while Logan Braunschweig, Isaiah Mack and Mayes White collected the rest of UAB's hits. Braunschweig collected his second triple on the year and fifth RBI after driving in Brayton Brown for the Blazers' first run of the game. Mack had a career night as he made his second start as the designated hitter. Mack collected his first collegiate hit and first double of his collegiate years. White, who started at third base, collected his fourth RBI after he hit a single to bring in Peyton Puckett for UAB's final run.
