UAB Men’s Golf Finishes Fifth at Conference USA Championship

BIRMINGHAM – Led by Khavish Varadan's fourth place individual finish, the UAB men's golf team finished fifth at the Conference USA Championship this week in Texarkana.
The Blazers shot +15 overall and missed advancing to championship match play by one stroke as the top four teams advanced (Charlotte, +8, Middle Tennessee, +9, Louisiana Tech, +12, North Texas, +14).
Varadan was at the top of the leaderboard all week and finished in a tie for four place at +2 (73-73-72 = 218).
Alfie Fox also notched a top 10 finish as he tied for 10th overall at +3 (72-75-72 = 219). After a tough first round, Ethan Hagood recovered nicely and shot UAB's low round of the tournament on the final 18 holes to move up 19 spots and finish in a tie for 18th overall at +6 (80-73-69 = 222, +6).
Paul Bruce (74-75-78 = 227, +11) and Cole Imig (73-75-80 = 228, +12) rounded out UAB's lineup by finishing tied for 30th and 32nd, respectively.
UAB's season has come to a close as the Blazers will miss NCAA Regionals for the first time in three years.
