UAB Men’s Tennis Sweeps Doubleheader

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's tennis (10-4) downed Mississippi Valley State and Youngstown State in a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. The Blazers have reached double-digit wins for the first time since the 2017-18 season.
UAB 7, MISSISSIPPI VALLEY STATE 0
The Blazers dominated Mississippi Valley State in the first match of the day without dropping a point. Kaustubh Holcomb, Iker Dellien, and Chase Parker each picked up their first singles victories of the season in the contest.
Martin Vasquez took Court One by a score of 6-0, 6-0 to move to 2-0 on the year.
UAB 6, YOUNGSTOWN STATE 1
In the second match of the doubleheader, the Blazers quickly took control by taking the doubles point. The pairing of Roman Postolka and Nikola Puric took Court Three while Thanos Spyropoulos and Carlos Gimenez Perez took Court Two.
Michal Lusovsky won on Court One in straight sets (6-0, 6-3) while Thanos Spyropoulos took Court Four (6-1, 6-0) shortly afterwards. Noah Malige secured the match for the Blazers while moving to 10-0 on the season (6-2, 6-0).
The Penguins picked up a point on Court Two as Roman Postolka was forced to retire from the match after the second set. However, the Blazers closed it out with wins on Court Three and Court Six.

UAB will travel to Chattanooga to take on the Mocs on Thursday at 2 p.m. CT.
