UAB Beach Volleyball Defeats Austin Peay and Mercer

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB beach volleyball team registered a pair of 4-1 victories over Austin Peay and Mercer on the first day of the UAB Beach Classic Friday at Blazer Beach.

The Blazers improved their record to 11-10 on the season with the pair of wins and is now 17-3 at home since moving to their new courts back in 2019.

Emma Andraka and Jessica Ennis on Court 3 and Olivia Stant and Olivia Chychrun on Court 5 won both of their matches in straight sets. Arden Copping and Mikayla Law-Heese won both of their matches on Court 1, including a three-set victory over Mercer.

With her two victories today, Emma Andraka tied the school record for career wins and needs one more to move into sole possession of first place.

The Blazers are back in action on Saturday with matches against ULM (12 p.m.) and Jacksonville State at 4 p.m.
