BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's basketball (27-9, 14-6 C-USA) advanced to the quarterfinal round of the National Invitation Tournament with a 77-59 win over Morehead State (22-12, 14-4 OVC). Ty Brewer finished with a season-high 25 points and nine rebounds while Trey Jemison added 11 points and grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds.

The Blazers jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead, forcing a Morehead State timeout less than three minutes into the game. The Eagles responded with a run of their own to cut the UAB lead to just three before the Blazers went on a 13-0 run to make it 29-11.

Morehead State worked the UAB lead down to just 12 with a layup at the buzzer. Ty Brewer scored 17 of his 25 points in the first half.

The Eagles cut the UAB lead to just nine with a three pointer to open the second half. However, the Blazers used a 13-2 run that was punctuated by Jordan Walker's sole three-pointer of the night to regain control and push the lead to 22.

UAB held off a late Morehead State run that had the Eagles within 10 points late in the contest. The Blazers scored the final eight points of the game, including a pair of threes from Tony Toney to close it out at 77-59.

UAB matches its single-season record of 27 wins from the 2021-22 season.
Trey Jemison recorded his 10^th double-double of the season with 11 points and 16 boards.
With his 16-rebound performance, Trey Jemison's 303 rebounds rank fifth in program history. Jemison is the first Blazer to grab at least 300 rebounds since Cameron Moore 2011-12.
Ty Brewer finished with a season-high 25 points while shooting 12-for-18 from the field.
Eric Gaines added 11 points and seven assists. With 165 assists, Gaines is three assists away from joining UAB's single season top 10 list.
Jordan Walker is 18 points away from matching UAB's single season record of 695 set by Robert Vaden.
