UAB Beach Volleyball Defeats No. 19 Tulane, 3-2

GULF SHORES, Ala. – The UAB beach volleyball team defeated its first nationally-ranked opponent of the season with a 3-2 win over No. 19 Tulane on Saturday at the March To May in Gulf Shores.
The win was UAB's fifth win over a nationally-ranked opponent in program history and its first since April 1st of last season when the Blazers defeated No. 19 Stetson.
The Blazers (8-9) raced out to a 2-0 lead with wins on courts four and five. The freshman pair of Olivia Stant and Olivia Chychrun notched a straight set victory on Court 5, followed by Emma Andraka and Jessica Ennis winning a three-set thriller on Court 4 as they rallied for a 20-18 victory in the decisive set.
Brooke Pertuit and Jasmine Haas secured the team victory with a straight set victory on Court 2, and in the process notched their team-best 10th win of the season.
In UAB's first contest of the day, the Blazers fell to No. 3 UCLA 5-0.
The Blazers conclude action at the March To May on Sunday with matches against No. 10 Georgia State and Mercer.
