UAB WBB Begins Homestand With UTEP

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's basketball team returns home to Bartow Arena this week beginning with UTEP on Thursday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.

UAB LATELY
UAB (11-13, 3-12 C-USA) fell at Middle Tennessee 63-42 on Feb. 11. The Blazers lead C-USA in assists per game and total assists. UAB is 7-4 at Bartow Arena this season.

UTEP LATELY
UTEP (16-7, 9-5 C-USA) has won its last two games over Charlotte and UTSA by an average of 20.5 points. The Miners are 6-3 on the road this year.

UAB AND UTEP HISTORY
The series began in 1990 with a UAB 61-41 victory then went on hiatus for 16 years, resuming in 2006. Overall, the Blazers lead the series 15-12 and 12-9 in Conference USA play. The teams have met five times in the C-USA Championship with the Miners holding a 3-2 edge. UAB leads the series at Bartow Arena 9-3.

LAST TIME AGAINST UTEP
The UAB women's basketball team dropped its second consecutive Conference USA game after a 76-58 setback at UTEP on Dec. 29. The Blazers (8-3, 0-2 C-USA) were led by Sara Bershers with 11 points and Margaret Whitley who added 10. N'Yah Boyd paced the Miners (9-2, 2-0 C-USA) with a game-high 20 points. Jazion Jackson was one rebound shy of a double-double with 13-and-9.

UAB and UTEP have nine common opponents this season

TEXAS TOUGH
UAB is 65-58 all-time against teams from the state of Texas.

SCHEDULE NOTE
The Feb. 18 game vs. UTSA will now have a 1 p.m. tipoff time.

On Feb. 9, Whitley became UAB's all-time leader with 134 games played.

UAB TO THE AAC
American Athletic Conference officials announced that Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, UTSA, Rice and Texas San Antonio will join UAB as new members in the AAC and compete against current AAC members East Carolina, Memphis, Navy, USF, SMU, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa and Wichita State. The move will be official on July 1, 2023.

The Blazers remain at home to face UTSA on Feb. 18. This will be the 2023 Senior Day for Whitley, Lyndsey Robson, Maria Roters, Audrey Jordan and Jasmine Gracie.

Women's Basketball season tickets are available for $65 by purchasing the 2022-23 Gold Card. The Gold Card will allow you to gain access to all home events for Women's Basketball, as well as Women's Soccer, Men's Soccer, Volleyball, Baseball and Softball.

GROUP TICKETS AND FAN EXPERIENCE PACKAGES
Individual and corporate groups can plan a memorable experience at Bartow Arena by filling out the UAB Basketball Group Ticket Request Form. Discounted group tickets and fan experiences are available for a minimum purchase of 15 tickets, and fan experiences are available on a first come, first served basis to any home basketball game during the 2022-23 season.
