Jade Weathersby Named AAC Freshman of the Week

BIRMINGHAM – UAB's Jade Weathersby has been named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week, as announced by league officials on Monday.
In three games last week, the freshman forward averaged 13.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while shooting 52 percent from the floor (12-of-23) and 88 percent at the line (15-of-17). Weathersby scored double figures in all three games, including a career-high tying 17 points against Auburn.
Overall, Weathersby is averaging 10.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this season. She also is shooting 84 percent in free throws (33-of-39).
Additionally, Mia Moore was named to the AAC Honor Roll for a third time this season. Moore had back-to-back double-doubles against Jacksonville State and Mississippi Valley State, highlighted by a 27-point, 14-rebound effort vs. JSU.
Up next, the Blazers head to Louisiana to take on Nicholls on Dec. 9 at 1 p.m., followed by a home game the following Tuesday (Dec. 12) against South Carolina State at 12 p.m.
