Volleyball Concludes Regular Season vs. Wichita State

WICHITA – UAB Volleyball fell to the Wichita State Shockers to conclude the regular season. The Blazers' regular season record sits at 5-26 and a conference record of 3-16 in their first AAC season.
IN THE SETS
Starting the first set, the Green and Gold shockers remained in close quarters before a 4-0 run pushed the Shockers ahead 5-1. After a UAB Challenge, the score would reverse, putting the Blazers within a two-point deficit. Wichita State maintained the lead, holding the Blazers to 13 points to the Shockers' 25.
In the second set, UAB trailed by one point before a Wichita State run put the Shockers ahead 10-5. The Blazers continued to put up a kill to halt the Shockers' runs, however Wichita State continued their series of runs, reaching the 20-point mark to lead by ten. With the Blazers trailing by 13 after two errors off the Blazers, the Green and Gold put up back-to-back kills to extend the set. However, UAB was unable to secure set two, losing 12-25.
The deciding set saw the Blazers and Shockers in close quarters. With Wichita State leading by 6-2, the Green and Gold go on a 4-0 run to get within a point. However, the Shockers jumped in front with a run to extend the score margin to six. The Green and Gold saw themselves down by ten once again before the Shockers put up a 6-0 run to take the set and match.
IN THE BOX
- UAB was outhit by the Shockers, with Wichita State hitting .374 to UAB's .012.
- Mia Reese hit .222 on six kills and two errors. She led the team in the stat.
- The Green and Gold finished with 25 digs and five blocks. Anna Burkhardt finished with a match-leading 12 digs.
- The Blazers and Shockers were within close quarters in service aces, with UAB totaling two and Wichita State totaling three.
