Matt Quinn Named AAC Special Teams Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM – Senior placekicker Matt Quinn has been named the American Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Quinn was 2-for-2 on field goal attempts and 4-for-4 on extra point attempts for a total of 10 points in UAB's 34-24 victory over Temple. His 26-yard field goal with 6:33 left gave UAB a 27-24 lead which proved to be the game-winning points.

Quinn has been automatic on point after attempts, having made 120 consecutive dating back to the 2021 season, which is the fourth longest active streak in the nation. His 159 PAT made are a UAB school record.

This season, Quinn is 34-for-34 on PAT and has made 11-of-17 field goal attempts. He leads the team in points with 67 and ranks ninth in the AAC at 6.1 points per game. Quinn has made two game-winning field goals this season.

Quinn and the Blazers conclude the 2023 season this coming Saturday, Nov. 25, at North Texas. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
